Asphalt Driveway Calculator
Estimate asphalt tonnage, waste, material cost and delivery.
How this calculator works
ProjectCost uses your measurements, quantity assumptions and editable unit prices to produce a first-pass planning estimate.
Why your final cost may differ
Site conditions, local labor, delivery, permits, access, material availability, project specifications and contractor scope can materially change an installed project price.

Compare the full driveway budget
Surface price is only one part of a new driveway. Compare common surfaces and include site preparation.
Questions people ask before estimating
How is asphalt tonnage estimated?
The calculator uses driveway area, asphalt thickness and an approximate material density, then adds an ordering allowance. Suppliers may quote by ton, square foot, or installed scope.
Does the calculator include the driveway base?
Yes, through the editable base/grading rate. For a new driveway, also consider excavation, drainage and unsuitable-soil removal when applicable.
Can I use my contractor's price?
Yes. Replace the sample installed and preparation rates with the numbers from your quote to compare scenarios.
Turn the estimate into a project budget
Use the Project Planner to keep site work, materials, labor and allowances visible as your scope changes.
